Phoenix are in the last 32 of the FA Vase!!!
On Saturday 6th December, The Phoenix massive travelled down to Alresford in Hampshire, to play in the 3rd round of the Vase.
Phoenix have been on a great run of late, with only 2 goals conceded intheir last 10 matches,
So Confidence was sky high.
To be fair Alresford brought the guys back down to earth after 2 mins when a decent move cut through our defence and Phoenix were 1 down.
Soon after Phoenix settled down and started to get some joy in the Arlesford half, Harrison Carnigie was ripping the Alresford left back to pieces and after the 3rd time he got the ball across to the might Yack!!(Yacine Gnahore) and he fired home on 20mins to make it 1-1.
Just before half time , again from a Harrison cross, Louie Valencia's header was well saved only for it to fall to Super Ricky Freeman who fired the ball home !!! 2-1 up at half time.
There was no goals in the 2nd half but a few decent goal mouth incidents. Alresford GK made a few decent saves one from a great strike from Yack and the other from Ricky.
But Phoenix GK Steve Phillips made a blinding save down to his right with 10 mins to go.
Phoenix won 2-1 and enjoyed their journey back to Bexleyheath!!!
Man of the match, the sheep dog that made 2 apperances in the 1st half and almost scored for the home side.
Biggest Laugh of the match, has to go to the match referee who had to stop the match twice for treatment after being hit in the head with the ball!! the 1st was from a header!!!!
On Monday 8th Dec the draw for the last 32 was made.
Phoenix have picked up another away draw (5 out of 6) against Bodmin Town FC, the match will take place on Saturday 17th January , 3pm ko,
We are currently looking at various travel options, but please let us know if you are interested in traveling down!!!
